Bhonpuram khabri,Rudrapur। A 28-year old man was arrested by the city police after he surrendered at the local police station claiming that he strangulated his wife after she taunted him ever since the car which he was given on marriage met with an accident.
The accused, Mashqoor Khan, a resident of Paharganj colony in the city, was married to Farha Ahmed, 24, of Khera colony in the city only three months back. In his complaint with the police, Rasheed Ahmed, father of the deceased said that his daughter Farha was married to Mashqoor on October 24 last year. “We spent above our status in the marriage and gave them a lot of materialistic things as dowry. But Mashqoor was never satisfied with the Alto car we gave him. He demanded a sedan ever after the marriage and harassed my daughter. Last week my daughter called me and said that if I did not give her in-laws a cash of 5 lakh rupees, she will be killed. The consequences are now clear as Mashqoor murdered my daughter”, he added.
However, Mashqoor refuted the charges and said that the car which he was given during marriage met with an accident few days ago and ever since then Farha would taunt him day and night out. “I could not take the harassment and killed her”, he said.
Vikram Rathore, SHO of the Rudrapur police station saud that accused has been arrested and a case under section 302 of the IPC has been registered against him.
